Thick Ink
In the colored mesh printing, ink thickness directly affects the color shade of articles and images, reduction degree of color cabinet and chromatic polarization size, etc. Thick ink level will bring bright color, giving us the satiation and stereoscopic impression. This is the advantage of silk-screen printing. What’s more, silk-screen printing is also proficiently in big area printing of articles and images. In fact, the CD printing surface design mainly takes the big area of articles and images as subject, especially several years before, which catering to the characteristic of silk-screen printing just right.
On the other hand, if traces the “reason” of thick ink level characteristic in silk-screen printing, we will usually think of the big consumption of printing ink. Compare with offset printing, ink thickness of silk-screen printing is 3 times of offset printing, this will imperceptibly enlarged the cost of CD printing. Regarding to different batch CD product, manufactures having silk-screen printing and offset printing will carefully consider which way is better.
What’s more, thick ink-level will bring affections as below:
1. Low-speed of printing ink light-solidification and obvious contraction of ink membrane are easy to cause the plate piece contraction, even curving, thereby to cause quality problem.
2. Low Precision
For the limit of craft and raw material, precision of silk-screen printing image can achieve 133 lines/inch at most, which is usually 80-120 lines/inch; with its scope 10-15%. Therefore, silk-screen printing products are usually insufficient in the exquisiteness and sense of depth.
3. Low Cost
As the comparatively low price of silk-screen printing equipments and some consumables (such as printing ink), silk-screen printing becomes the first choice of CD printing investors.
